Some considerations on breast forms

There is a certain kind of patients who will resort to prosthetic breasts, also known as breast form. They are anatomic complements made of various materials, mainly silicone gel. They are meant to resemble the look and feel of natural breasts, and they are widely popular for people who have undergone a mastectomy due to cancer, or other conditions, or for people who will not subject themselves to plastic surgery, because they can’t or they won’t.

Acquiring a breast form is a process that needs certain aspects to be carefully considered. On the first place, the form has to fit in “harmony” with the rest of the body complexion. This detail is crucial, in order to make it look as natural as possible. If the breast form is too exaggerated, most probably they won’t pass as real, and, furthermore, the person wearing them will feel somewhat uncomfortable wearing those objects on the chest.

The form themselves has to be selected carefully. Some breast forms are meant just to enhance the natural breast forms of the carrier, and they are placed under the breast, to provide a good lift, or a push up effect. These breast forms can be worn with the swimming suit with no problem. Others, are meant to go on top of the existing breast of the person. They tend to have a water drop shape, and they can be placed upright, or laterally, that is to say with the sharp end towards the armpits. This will depend on comfort and the clothes worn at the moment.
